SCIENCE CLUB

Mrs. Manisha Dhume The school has an active Science Club, the membership of which is open to all students of Std. VIII, IX and X. The Science Club of the school has been regularly participating in the various science fairs, workshops and exhibitions conducted at the district, state and the national level under the aegis of Goa State Council for Science & Technology, National Children's Science Congress, Western India Science Fair, etc. with a view to inculcate a scientific temperament among students. In the recent years, many of the school's projects have been selected at the state level to participate at the national level science events.
In addition to participation in state and national level projects and seminars, the Science Club also organizes bi-annual science exhibition and actively promotes student participation in the Goa State Science Talent Search examination, Science Quiz and Science Drama. The Club also arranges field visits, lectures and science film shows in association with the Goa Science Centre, Panaji.

2003-04
Project on "Conservation of Nutrients in Food" was presented at the district level Children's Science Congress and was selected for presentation at the state level. Student presenters: Rachana Pai, Anuradha Sharma, Neha Salelkar, Avon Vaz and Sudhir Kenkre. Guide teacher: Mrs. Manisha Dhume.
Project on "Eupatorium Odoratum - a Problem Weed" presented at the state level Science Fair was selected for participation in the Western India Science Fair in Mumbai. Student presenter: Shreyas Paranjape. Guide Teacher: Mrs. Malan Bhatikar. The project was also selected for presentation at Intel Science Talent Discovery Fair held in Chennai in 2004.
Science Drama "Machcharon ki Duniya" presented at the state level was selected to participate at the West Zone level in Mumbai and thereafter at the national level science drama event in New Delhi.
2004-05
Project on "Water Conservation at Home" presented at the district level Children's Science Congress was selected to participate at the state level. Student participants: Hethel Lotlikar, Rehmat Khan, Vineeta Mahale, Vishnu Shirodkar and Pravit Dessai. Guide teacher: Mrs. Manisha Dhume.
Project on "Save Mango Trees from Loranthus" participated at the state level Science Fair and was selected to participate at the Western India Science Fair in Mumbai. Student participant: Sneha Naik. Guide teacher: Mrs. Malan Bhatikar.
Student team comprising Aditi Shirodkar and Sarvar Sayyad secured 3rd place at the all Goa Science Quiz.
Miss Jyoti Naik participated in the all-Goa Science Seminar on the topic "Scientific Attitude" and secured the IVth rank at the state level. Guide teacher: Mrs. Sarita Malkarnekar
Science Drama "Ghumati Agarbatti" secured the 1st rank at the state level science drama contest and was selected for presentation at the West Zone level in Mumbai.
2005-06
Project on "Temple Ponds of Goa: The Traditional Water Storage Tanks" presented at the State level Goa State Children's Science Congress 2005, was selected to participate in the National Children's Science Congress 2005 held at Bhubaneshwar. At the national level, the project was among the 60 projects shortlisted for scrutiny by the NCSC. Student participants: Sama Bhatikar, Prajna Udipi, Sagar Raikar, Varun Verlekar, R. Abhinandan. Guide teacher: Mrs. Manisha Dhume.

2006-07
Project on "Eco-friendly Cultivation of Local Vegetables" presented at the Goa State Children's Science Congress 2006 was selected to participate in the National Children's Science Congress 2006 held in Sikkim. Student participants: Bhargavi Bhat, Priyanka Abdar, Zeba Nazir, Gaurish Amonkar, Jacob Chirayil. Guide teacher: Mrs. Manisha Dhume.
Project on "Zentoxylem Rhetsa (Tephal): A Potential Source to Prevent Insect Infestation in Pulses" presented at district and state levels Science Fair was selected for participation at the Western Indian Science Fair in Mumbai. Student participant: Mysia Paes. Guide teacher: Mrs. Malan Bhatikar.
Science Drama " Dengue Ya Chikunguniya" won the second prize at the state level Science Drama competition and was selected for participation at the Western Zonal Level Science Drama Festival in Mumbai. Student participants: Arpita Shirshikar, Prerana Kumane, Priyanka Tubachi, Vijayalaxmi Hiremath, Afrin Shaikh, Sarvesh Shenai, Soham Kamat, Kishore Bandodkar. Guide Teacher: Mrs. Chanda Kittur.
